Crochet Plush Hippo Amigurumi Free Pattern

Materials:

  • Yarn: Himalaya Velvet or Himalaya Dolphin Baby, YarnArt Dolche (1 skein of main color)
  • YarnArt Iris (100% cotton, 20 g/138 m) for eye brows (black color)
  • Hook size: 3.0 mm
  • 18-20 mm safety eyes
  • False eyelash (3 cm)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Thin thread in the tone of yarn for sewing details together
  • Satin ribbon for a bow (50 cm)
  • Stitch marker
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Fiberfill

Abbreviations:

  • R = row
  • mc = magic circle
  • ch = chain
  • st = stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • inc = 2 sc in the next stitch
  • dec = single crochet 2 stitches together
  • F.o. = finish off
  • ( ) = number of stitches you should have at the end of the round/row
  • ( ) * 6 = repeat whatever is between the brackets the number of times stated

Head

  • R 1: 12 sc in mc (12)
  • R 2: (1 sc, inc) * 6 (18)

Now we crochet a nose: Turn the work and crochet (inc) * 9. Put a stitch marker – here will be a beginning of a new row. Turn the work and crochet:

  • R 12: 18 sc (nose) + 1 sc in the side of the nose + 33 sc to the end of the row (52)
  • R 13-15: 52 sc (3 rows)
  • R 16: 16 sc + dec + 15 sc + dec + 15 sc + dec (49)
  • R 17: (5 sc, dec) * 7 (42)
  • R 18: (4 sc, dec) * 7 (35)

  • Cut a false eyelash 3 cm long in half. Glue a false lash to an eye.
  • Insert safety eyes between R 10 and R 11 at the distance of 8 st from each other.

Don’t cut the yarn when you finish the second leg!

From the second leg: 3 ch, join with the first leg, put a stitch marker (increases on the legs should be on the outer sides). Continue crocheting the body in the round:

Put the pink part and blue part of the ear together with the inner part (wrong side to wrong side) and through both parts with blue yarn:

Fold the ear edges together and sew them on the head.

Nostrils (make 2)

  • Sew the nostrils under the eyes.

Embroider eyebrows with black yarn. Tie a bow on the neck.
