In this masterclass, you will learn how to crochet a plush giraffe using the amigurumi technique. For this project, any plush yarn works well, such as Himalaya Dolphin Baby, YarnArt Dolce, and others. You can decorate the giraffe’s face with buttons (for nostrils and the belly button) or use embroidery for the details.

Crochet Pattern for Plush Giraffe

Head

Start with yellow yarn.

  1. Rnd 1: 6 sc in KA
  2. Rnd 2: inc x 6 (12)
  3. Rnd 3: inc in each stitch (24)
  4. Rnd 4: (1 sc + inc) x 12 (36)
  5. Rnd 5: (5 sc + inc) x 6 (42)
  6. Rnd 6: 42 sc
  7. Rnd 7: (4 sc + inc) x 8, finish with 2 sc (50)
    8–12. Rnd 8–12: 50 sc (5 rounds)
  8. Rnd 13: (4 sc + dec) x 8, finish with 2 sc (42)
  9. Rnd 14: 42 sc
  10. Rnd 15: (3 sc + dec) x 8, finish with 2 sc (34)
    16–17. Rnd 16–17: 34 sc (2 rounds)
  11. Change color to brown and crochet 34 sc

Start stuffing the head. Ensure the stuffing is evenly distributed to maintain symmetry.

Install the safety eyes on round 18, 3 stitches apart.

  3. Rnd 24: (1 sc + dec) x 6 (12)
  4. Close with the needle, weaving the yarn through the remaining stitches.

Horns (Make 2)

Start with yellow yarn.

Face Decoration

  • Attach the horns and ears symmetrically to the head.
  • Sew buttons for the nostrils and belly button using thread matching the giraffe’s body color.
  • Optionally, embroider additional facial details.
