Tail
Start with dark blue color. We will start with a foundation chain.
- Rnd 1: ch 10, turn =10
- Rnd 2: starting from the second chain from the hook: 8 sc, 3 sc in the last chain, 7 sc, inc =20
- Change to light blue color.
- Rnd 3: 20 sc =20
- Rnd 4: (dec,8sc)*2 =18
- Rnd 5: (dec,7sc)*2 =16
- Rnd 6: 16 sc =16
- Rnd 7: (dec,6sc)*2 =14
- Cut the yarn leaving long to sew later.
Dorsal fin (Make 2)
Start with dark blue color. We will start with a foundation chain.
- Rnd 1: ch 6 and turn =6
- Rnd 2: 4 sc, 3 sc in the last chain, 3 sc, inc =12
- Change to light blue color.
- Rnd 3: 12 sc =12
- Rnd 4: (dec,4sc)*2 =10
- Rnd 5: 10 sc =10
- Cut the yarn leaving long to sew later.
Pectoral fin (Make 2)
Begin with light blue color.
- Rnd 1: 4 sc in MR =4
- Rnd 2: (sc,inc)*2 =6
- Rnd 3: (sc,inc)*3 =9
- Rnd 4: (2sc,inc)*3 =12
- Rnd 5: 12 sc =12
- Change to dark blue color.
- Rnd 6: (3sc,inc)*3 =15
- Cut the yarn and sew the opening with a tapestry needle.
Hair
- Ch 7, turn, work 1 sc in each of the 6 chains, ch 7, work 1 sc in each of the 6 chains, ch 7, work 1 sc in each of the 6 chains.
- Fasten off and cut the yarn leaving long to sew later.
Assembling
Sew the tail first on the body, in the middle of the back side. If you mark the position of the tail with pins beforehand, it will be more assured.
Sew the dorsal fins on the body as in the picture below.
Pin the hair just from the bottom on the head and sew gently.
Pin the pectoral fins on the right side and left side of the body and sew gently.
Embroider the eyebrows and the mouth using thin black yarn.
